The Anti War Movement
I was part of the anti-War movement in the 1960's. Scott Ritter has just issued a call for the anti-War movement to reorganize. This is imperative. I keep thinking what it must have been like in Germany in 1942-43. In 1941, the German Army was invincible. Its Blitzkreig destroyed the French and British armies in a matter of weeks. (Contrary to what you might believe, the French Army was quite powerful on the eve of WWII. They also had the Maginot Line. Germany had been defeated in 1918. It was only 22 years later.) The German populace must have been as complacent about ultimate victory as we are. They believed the propaganda coming out of Berlin in the same way that many of us believe Dick Cheney. But, no one can tell the future.
We must stop these Wars. If Iran is attacked, there will be a conflagaration. It is hard to imagine the entire mid-East (including Israel) not going up in flames. As I have said before, it is my belief that Israel will use its 200-300 nuclear weapons in this eventuality. Not a prospect that we should entertain.
Read Ritter. Weep. And then get going.
