Apparently Karen Hughes got tired of spending more time with her family and was called back as minister of propaganda:
Former White House counselor Karen P. Hughes will take over the Bush administration's troubled public diplomacy effort intended to burnish the U.S. image abroad, particularly in the Muslim world ...
She's going to have a tough time in Iraq. Here are some photos from a collection on the Web. Please notice the great respect we show people in the Muslim world. I didn't have the heart to print the captions on this photos.

What makes her qualified for this position? Nothing that I can determine from this article. What a sad commentary:

"Through exchange programs, foreign language media and other initiatives, the public diplomacy campaign aims to promote American values of democracy, tolerance and pluralism abroad while combating negative images propagated in many parts of the world. The State Department spent $685 million on public diplomacy in 2004, but critics complain that it has not been increased enough since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and that most of it has not targeted the Muslim world."

So where did the money go? France? Was Karen Hughes was brought back to tell them to place ads on Al Jazerra? Maybe she can get the negatives to those photos real cheap. That would be a step in the right direction.
