The Vote

I think that there is a good chance that we will take the House, but probably with a smaller majority than we had hoped for. The Senate races that matter don't look good. I say this because the polls in the last few days show a resurgence of Republican support. I guess that is inevitable in any election, the underdog starts coming up, but I wish it wasn't true. Even in Maryland where Cardin has had a substantial lead, sometimes as much as 10% over Steele, it is now much closer.

What is really discouraging is that Americans did not take this opportunity to turn our country around. Controlling the Senate, the White House and the Supremes will let the Republicans pretty much negate any effort that can be put forward from the House.

It is just mind boggling how awful this current group of hooligans are that occupy the most important offices in a country of 300 million. Just awful.

It may be that we have just seen our Democracy fail. 2008 is just too far away.
