Friday Crab Blogging
I am fascinated by the anthropomorphizing of everything by children. Check out the face on this guy. Certainly this started a long time ago (probably by Aesop) and continued down through Lewis Carroll to Thomas the Tank Engine. The latter, of course, received a stroke of brillance by using Ringo Starr as the voice over.
I get by with a little help from my friends.

AHA! Your politics are showing ! That's a democratic crab. I can tell it's a democrat crab because it's standing up, waving its claws, and cheering.
Yes, yes, yes. We did a little celebrating. But there is so much work to do and Cheney is still a formidible opponent. I just don't want Rumsfeld to retire to his house here in my back yard.
You're not going to like this but here goes:
Things in Iraq are about to get much much much much worse IMO. They're going to get so much worse (again IMO) that a catastrophic retreat will be the only option of saving any American lives. I see absolutely no evidence that the ability to do that most difficult of military operations a fighting retreat exists any longer in the US officer corps. (Neither does Pat Lang btw) at that point your new neighbours will be too busy trying to dodge the necktie parties looking for them for you to need to worry about them being in your neck of the woods.
MFI, Given what I read on your blog, Gorilla's Guides, I suspect you are correct. It seems, rightly so and completely understandable, that the level of frustration in the Iraqi populace has reached the breaking point. Apparently the American forces will find it difficult to get resupplied if there is a coordinated uprising against them, perhaps even including Irani involvement (did I read that on your blog too?). Rummy might have gotten out in the nick of time. Even retreat at this point is going to be risky.
