Avoid a fight? Two possibilities: 1. Someone gets out to a big lead and never needs to attack back; or 2. Some senior state democrat(s) force sanity and keep the focus on the party winning back the Gov's mansion. Though I don't know who such a senior person in the party would be.
After the last non-primary for governor, I'm inclined to think that a competitive primary is a good thing. So long as there is enough $ left over to compete against Ehrlich after the primary battle.
I'm looking forward to getting your sense of how the Eastern Shore is feeling.

You got it right, Steve. I've been meaning to ask you, how do we avoid a brutal Duncan vs O'Malley primary fight?

And how about Franchot v. Schaefer?
Franchot sounds interesting. Definitely a progressive. Schaefer has been around a long time. Sort of like Marvin Mandel.
