A Sense of Overpowering Sadness

If you all missed this post by Billmon it is something everyone should read:

Down the River (Oct 18)

Its a poignant take on a post by "Riverbend," an Iraqi woman who blogs from Baghdad and who has been off the air for some time. This was to bring notice to her return, but it is much, much more.

Kudos, Billmon.

I have been one of those concerned by the absence of Riverbend's posts.

I've often wanted to reach out to her.

As an American I felt shame when we invaded Irag....but that shame pales with the shame that our nation should feel now.

I am 63 years old. I just hope I will live long enough to see America regain her integrity.

These people (Bush and Co.)have made a mockery of everything I was taught and believed about my country.
