Social Security

As I have posted in the past, the CEO of United HealthCare made $38 Million in cash in 2003. Yet, he only paid social security tax on the first $90,000. Would someone please do the arithmetic and tell me if we would have a Social Security problem if he paid on $38 Million? I realize that he won't receive those benefits when he retires but he just received a big tax break on the other end, so lets even the playing field.

Dr. C.,

I'm adding your blog to my blogroll.

If you would rather not have me do this, please let me know.

I like the content of your posts, and you seem to be a little crabby (like me).

In fact, I came across your site while googling for a picture of Blue Crabs.

Anyhow, let me know if you would rather not be added to the very tiny list of blogs on my site.

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Hey redjalapeno,
I'm honored to be on your blogroll; you didn't leave your link, though. From redjalapeno I assume you are in the SouthWest. I spent a couple of years in Albuquerque and liked it a lot.

Oops, sorry about that. I'm a scatterbrain too.

Visit The Pepper Farm before you agree that it's an honor! :)

There is a pretty good discussion of social security issues at the Maryland Policy blog.

Their blog has a different tone that yours, but since you're Maryland and they are Maryland, maybe you'll like it.

Dr. C.,

Thanks for that link.

I'm a Virginian, live in Richmond, but that's close enough.

And, location really does not matter to me, it's the content, the fervor, the humor, the madness that I have an interest in.

I'm studying for a masters/doctorate in Sociology and hope to coincide research with teaching, if I live long enough to do all that, so I really like to observe people from all over.

Naturally, politics is a wonderful arena in which to observe the human animal and our behaviors, tendencies, territorality, etc.

Anyhow, recently I was a bit overwhelmed by all of the negativity out there and decided to start web logging more about my nephews and what fun they are. Trying to balance out the reality with a little bit of family fun so to speak. Ha!, it won't last long though...

The idea of my blogroll is to link to as many different people and places as possible and yet still maintain a common thread of some type of humanity.

There is a long way to travel just yet.
