Greenwald and Defeatism

Glenn Greenwald had a post up yesterday concerning defeatism. He does an admirable job of trying to rally to troops and, via this graph of Bush's popularity, shows us how far we have come:

I am trying to feel optimistic. But, as a friend of mine who hosted "victory" parties in 2000 and 2004 said, she wasn't going to do it this year so as not to be disappointed in the company of friends once again. You know, especially in 2004, we really thought we were going to win.

Even here in Maryland, and even with a local race that I am supporting, it could still revert to the jerks. And, I don't know anyone who knows what we are going to do if that happens.

There are a million things to do if we win. A lot of us can't wait to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Certainly the environment (including the fishes) and the War in Iraq are in the first order of business. Not to forget nuclear proliferation and Health Care. I just hope we get a chance. I'm not sure what will happen if we lose.
