Then and Now

Glen Greenwald reminds us that George Bush said this back in a presidental debate in 2000:
"I'm worried about overcommitting our military around the world. I want to be judicious in its use. . . . It needs to be in our vital interest, the mission needs to be clear, and the exit strategy obvious."
........
"And so I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building. I think our troops ought to be used to fight and win war."
In very many ways, particularly with regard to foreign policy, George W. Bush has done an 180 degree turn. Unfortunately, he continues in the same old ways domestically, ignoring the poor and rewarding his rich friends with no contest contracts and tax breaks. This is the epitome of cronyism.

It is one thing to go down the tube if you can't prevent it. But if the American public votes for these guys in November, they have absolutely no excuse for what is going to befall them in the next two years.
