Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh claim that they are entertainment, but they frequently wish to be taken for serious commentators. Coulter, to follow up on her CPAC speech where she spoke of "ragheads," gave a speech at Indiana University:
Coulter raised some controversy in her speech when she said that Democrats don't want democracy to succeed in Iraq. She said, "They don't think the little brown boys could handle democracy," to which students responded, "We don't tolerate racism here. Go back to Germany."I blogged about the British Historian who was sentenced to three years in prison for remarks about the Holacaust. Why is it that racist remarks like this are tolerated when they come from Republicans?
Coulter and Limbaugh represent the worst of what has come to be 21st century America. They are glib and without a shred of comprehension of what they are doing to us with their inflammatory speech. Words that are said not to convey ideas, but only for their thrilling effect. They are crying "Fire" in the national Hall that enshrines our Constitution and the Decleration of Independence. If we aren't careful, they will burn it down.
I am not advocating that they be silenced. They have a right to rave as much as the next idiot. I am advocating that they be taken for what they are. Demagogues.

She doesn't bother me as much as she used to, but what I do find frightening about her act is that she has a loyal following that thinks she is brilliant.

Like many conservatives: masters of projection and wonderful at telling everyone else how to live by standards that cannot uphold themselves.
My ability to tolerate the right wing of the American political spectrum is diminishing as rapidly as reasoning and logic evaporated in conservatives around the year 1992.
Oh wait, it can't evaporate if it wasn't there to begin with...

Other news:
Dubhaltach got back to his base for a little while. We spoke for ½ an hour. He's ummm not in a good mood. In fact he's just like his dad when he's in a bad mood :-) Yikes. If you check my gorilla's guide blog you can see what I mean.
He spoke for around two hours with his fiancee - she floated out of the house on wings of happiness.
I pay their phone bill while he's serving abroad. My accountant will have a heart seizure but i don't care.
